V Cast Music Manager: Delayed Junk

Verizon Wireless
Verizon has been my service provider since my first mobile phone (some eight years ago) and they have been great with coverage and rarely do I ever have dropped calls. Last February, I upgraded to a new phone, Motorola KRZR k1m, and the phone has been great.

The phone is also a music player, but to put music on the phone you need the driver, to get the driver you needed the “V Cast Music Manager”, to get the V Cast Music Manager you need XP (not OSX or Vista). The Vista version was coming though, when I first looked at the chart it said it would becoming out in March. Verizon kept their word and it came out yesterday, July eleventh, that’s three months of delays.

Spotback: Second Thoughts

After adding the Spotback widget I noticed a problem with my sidebar loading. I am unsure if the widget is something I will want long term because of the load times it has brought to my website. I am going to look into finding a different way have the widget on my site because the Wordpress plugin is really hogging the load times.

Firefox Dampened, Flock Soars

I switch between two different computers depending on what I am doing. I use my Macbook for editing media, listening to music, and email and I use my Dell desktop mainly for writing blog posts and school work. I have Firefox downloaded on both computers and it used to be my favorite browser, until now.FireFox

When using Firefox on my (Vista) Dell PC it can barely make it ten minutes with out freezing up. My Dell is only a couple of months old and it has plenty or RAM and processor power to run Firefox. I then thought it might be from the extensions and themes I had downloaded, so I delete the five extensions and the three themes I had downloaded in hopes for success, but like my athletic ability, it wasn’t found. Internet Explorer started looking good.

Where’s Tumblrrific?

Tumblrrific???
Twitterrific (by Iconfactory) is an simple application that allows you to post “tweets” using an application instead of using the problem ridden Twitter.com. Tumblr is a new blogging site that allows you to post a link, picture, video, or a few words instead of creating a full (in respect to Bill Clinton) blown blog. Like I said a few blog posts ago, Tumblr is the lazy man’s blog.

The question I’m asking is why haven’t we seen a Tumblrrific application? It wouldn’t be much different than Twitterrific, other than a more robust text editor and a bigger viewing window. The main reason why my Tumblelog is rarely updated is because I don’t want to spend the time going to Tumblr when I find a cool picture or link. I want to be able to click a little icon, post, and be done.

Tumblr does offer an OS X widget, but the newest version has trouble retaining information (i.e. my username and password), so I no longer use the widget anymore. What would be even cooler is to create a publishing application where you could post to Jaiku, Twitter, Tumblr, Blogger, Facebook, etc. all in one place.

What makes these new “presence” sites so popular is their simplicity. No one wants to dig a hole and climb a mountain to tell people what they are doing.

In hopes of a future with Tumblrrific.

Itunes on Vista runs like a Dog

After spending some time with iTunes on Vista I have started to hate iTunes. iTunes has become slow and unresponsive even on a brand new (core duo, 2 gigs of RAM) PC. Connecting iPods to iTunes makes it that much worse and tends to freeze iTunes for up to two minutes. Apple really needs to fix this mess, because I have resorted to using Windows Media Player to listen to music and that’s really sad.

In my opinion iTunes has been slow and sloppy ever since they added video. iTunes is bloated and is starting to become unusable if you don’t have a super fast computer. Even on my six month old Mac it runs slowly. I am disappointed.

Buggin’ out iTunes

Over at Brycekerley.net they found an iTunes bug that has been bothering me for a while. It has to do with Coverflow and it being very blurry. A quick (but temporary) solution is to rescale Coverflow on iTunes. Hopefully, this will be quickly fixed by Apple within the next few weeks. Even though it isn’t a big deal it’s just a small detail that drives me nuts.

Read.
