I’m in the process of moving and consolidating much of my stuff. I noticed that I’ve horded old cell phone and chargers, for what? I don’t know. Instead of throwing them away, like I’ve done with previous old phones, I decided to donate them to Cell Phones for Soldiers.
At first, I thought my old cell phone was going to be given to a soldier to use, which seemed unsafe because someone could be able to access old, deleted, or hidden information. Doing some research the that isn’t true. The old cell phones are cleared of their information and then recycled. The money Cell Phones for Soldiers makes from recycling cell phones goes towards calling cards, which are then given to soldiers around the world.
The donation process is really simple. Find a drop-off location near you or print off a free postage label at the website. All you need is an envelope and you’re set to donate.
I’m going to be honest, I’m not one to do community service or even donate, but Cell Phones for Soldiers makes it really easy to get rid of your old cell phones. Not only does the money made from the phones go to soldiers, but the cell phones are recycled, not just thrown in a landfill like everything else.
