6 TV Characters that Scared the Shit Out of Me

Growing up I wasn’t known as the bravest kid. Always having nightmares and long nights under the covers. What I can attribute to causing the nightmares are these six bed-wetting people:

1. Bozo the Clown: Not intentionally scary, but through the eyes of a youngster, Bozo instilled fear in me. I don’t have a fear of clowns, but Bozo was a tad on the creepy side. Unfortunately, the man who played Bozo has passed away. Fortunately, the Bozo character passed with his death.

2. Mumm-ra: I vividly remember watching Thundercats at daycare and even back then thinking the show was near garbage. Even with Thundercats being garbage, I couldn’t get past Mumm-ra, the show’s villain, who was most often found inside a dark pyramid. To be honest, I don’t remember Mumm-ra doing much other than being in that pyramid. He was a real homebody to say the least.

3. Oogie Boogie: Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas was one of the first movies to inspire me. I had never seen a movie like it and to this day I still appreciate it. Oogie Boogie, the massive glowing green bag of bugs, had always scared me. I still haven’t decided what made me scared. Was it that he kidnapped Santa? Or that he was full of bugs? I don’t know, but you don’t screw with Santa.

4. Lord Zedd: I grew up with Power Rangers, which at the time I thought was the greatest show ever. I had every single “Zord” and I was even considering becoming a Power Ranger, part time, of course. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was the very first in the series and the main bad guy, Lord Zedd, had always made me sweat. Lord Zedd is what a human would look like inside-out, but his voice really made him evil. Looking back, Lord Zedd was just a terrible rubber suit with some tubes glued to it. Too bad I didn’t realize that when I was younger.

5. The Borg: I know I’m not the only one who is/was scared of the Borg. Finding out that a human could be turned into the Borg had kept awake countless nights. I couldn’t go into any room without having the light on. After watching a couple Borg-infused Star Trek episodes, I still think they’re one of the scariest things on tv.

6.Tarantulas: Beast Wars was on at 3:30 during the week and I had seen every episode at least twice. It was the the best looking computer animated show at the time. Tarantulas wasn’t a particularly nice transformer and was most often found mutilating other transformers.

On the subject of scaring the shit out of me, the X-Files theme song.

How about you? Did something or someone give you nightmares?

    Well, Lord Zedd made me laugh, as i also grow with Power Rangers in mind. :D

    Tough, the scariest character for me is Joker. On everywhere. Card? Scary….

    @gagahput3ra

    The Joker never scared me, but seeing him in the Dark Knight made me think about him differently. I always thought of him as a clown.

    @Compson

    I have never actually seen an episode of Twin Peaks, but surprisingly you’re not the first to say “Bob.” I might have to YouTube him. Thanks
