The Next Wave of Macs

June 26th, 2008 Posted in uncategorized

The iPhone 3G may have taken all of the attention away from Apple’s computer line, but later this year all eyes will be back on the macs. What to expect in a few months:

-Blu-ray drives will be available on every mac computer (including Mac Mini). Blu-ray drives with burning capabilities available only on Macbook Pro and Mac Pro (at first).

-The Macbook Pro will lose the old style keyboard for the new chiclet style similar to current Macbook. RAM maximum will be increased to 8GB.

-Macbook will get a full refresh. New look, still no metal like Macbook Pro. RAM maximum will be increased to 6GB.

-Macbook will get the multi-touch track-pad like Macbook Pro and Air.

-iMac will get its specs updated.

-Macbook Air will get specs updated. Larger hard drive. Quicker. Same price. External USB drive won’t have Blu-ray.

-Cinema Displays will still be expensive and will remain unchanged.

-Going off topic, iPod Touch will see a price drop of about $50 dollars. iPod Classic won’t be updated.

    Yeah, I am looking forward to some new news in the Apple world. I won’t be buying anything but an iPhone in the next few months though. Getting tired of the iPhone frenzy.

    uh, yea…and eventually I will get old and die, but when is the all this taking place, is the real question. Your list is nice, but not all will see these awesome updates next time around.

  3. Loren Says:

    @prizzo

    The list has nothing groundbreaking in it. Almost everything on the list is just a spec update. I don’t see why this would take years to come out. ???

  6. Loren Says:

    @Church…

    That might be a possibility someday, but we probably won’t see anything close to that from Apple for a while.

    Where did you get this info? Is it speculation, because I can only see this happening next year, seeing that macbook pro just got updated specs a month ago.

  9. Sujan In Europe Says:

    I agree with predictions. Although there is some rumors going around about new macbook touch.

  10. Bowen Says:

    i really think that apple is making the wrong decision to change the macbook pro’s keyboard from the way that it is now to the “chicklit”
