Check Out: DOOSH’D

I started a little (daily) picture blog about a week ago and I’ve finally built up a good number of posts. Doosh’d is a little more edgy than r3fresh, but I’m hoping for a broader audience. Also, I just added the ability to submit your own “Doosh.”

If you have any ideas for either site, feel free to email us. mail[at]r3fresh.com

4 Sites That Haven’t Done Anything

Looking at a list of old bookmarks, I figured out why I consider the bookmarks “old.” All of the sites have executed a great service, but they never took it any farther.

I’m Feeling “OVER 9000!”

This makes as much sense as the original television show.

Information Overload: SI.com

CNN.com has become my favorite place for breaking news. New stories are at the top and the lower portion of the page goes into more detail. The layout is simple and the color scheme is strong, but that isn’t true for every CNN site.

I clicked on the “Sports” tab at the top of CNN.com and I was redirected to Sports Illustrated (aka SI.com). This is what I saw:

Now if you don’t see what’s wrong with this site you must be blind. There is so much information compacted into one page that my eyes have started to bleed. There isn’t any empty space on the site and every picture/text is a link to somewhere else. You can tell the site is designed with a similar layout to CNN, but SI wants to use ALL of it’s space.

It makes me sick to see such a popular website have such a poor layout, but this isn’t the first time…cough…Myspace…cough.

Do you like the current design of SI.com? Am I the only one that is overwhealm by the SI homepage?

HD with a Picture

antenna1

About a month ago I bought a 32″ Vizio LCD and for what I bought it for I really like it. It’s probably the best budget LCD on the market, but it surprisingly didn’t come with a digital antenna. Shopping around I found a lot of HD antennas all of which were pretty big and took me back to the days of bunny ears. While I was watching the recently bought Revision3 tech show Tekzilla they plugged Antennas Direct’s PF7 Picture Frame Antenna. I thought it was a clever idea and purchased the $50 dollar antenna.

Cnet Buys Revision3 for $57 Million [Update]

Revision3_bought

The popular internet media provider, Revision3, has been bought by Cnet for $57 million. Revision3 produces more than a dozen shows including Diggnation, The Totally Rad Show, and Tekzilla. The network includes an all-star list of hosts many of them from the TechTV network. What will this mean for Revision3? Cnet hasn’t been the most innovative company in the past years, but with a fresh new set of shows under their belt, things may change. We can only hope that Cnet will keep Revision3 working independently instead of being integrated into the Cnet site.

Update: Revision3 is not being bought by CNET. We can all put down our pitchforks and go home (to watch some Diggnation).
