hi.lt.on: Bookmarking…that’s hot!

August 1st, 2007 Posted in uncategorized

Popular bookmarking sites beware? Paris Hilton’s new Delicious-competitor is making big news in both the Internet and celebrity communities. Hi.lt.on, the name of the new service, was an idea given to Paris during her “demanding” jail time. I was lucky enough to get an invite to this interesting service.

Hilton
The bookmarking service supposedly works exactly the like del.icio.us, but unlike del.icio.us, it’s plagued with problems. Tagging is slow and is specific to expensive items (ie clothing, cars). The ability privately tag items is a great feature, but having it “leaked” on popular news sites is a discomforting one. Don’t worry about registering a username, as the servers will error from being over-worked. Hype has made hi.lt.on sound amazing, but it’s truly a piece of rhinestone encrusted crap.

The introduction of celebrities creating Internet startups maybe an absolutely horrible idea, but if they have the money to burn, it’s bound to happen. Rumors of Mel Gibson’s social network MyAnti-SemiticSpace, have already caused controversy with religious groups.

BTW- This post makes me hypocritical.

Oh dear lord. The thing is, normal internet users don’t know what delicious is. They know what Paris Hilton is though. It will be successful probably.
