New Interface for YouTube and Break Videos

June 7th, 2007 Posted in uncategorized

YouTube

This extremely popular online video site has gotten a refresh in the video player area. At first glance you probably would notice anything new, but as soon as you scroll over the video the new features present themselves. The coolest feature is the “coverflow-esque” video display a the bottom of the player, which allows you to watch other videos without moving to another player.

The second new feature is the screen at the end of the video. It allows you to rate, replay, embed, link or chose another video to watch, once again, without having to leave the player. The new player features are a great addition to the billion dollar video site, but they seem a little lacking when compared to the new features video features at Break.com.

Break.com

Break has become a very specific video site in that most of the videos are of people hurting themselves, but what’s so wrong with that? The new video features are amazing with the ability to expand the screen size, change the video settings (contrast, saturation, etc.), and much more. The new player is much more useful than any other online player I have seen and I think Break is paving the way to new ways to display and distribute video.

Break has created a video player with features never seen before. It won’t be long until we see these features in bigger video sites like YouTube.

(I still like Veoh because of the high quality video player.)
