01.25The Good and The Bad of the Web: Rev3 vs DL.tv
This is the first episode of The Good and The Bad of the Web. We’ll start off with the Good and end with the Bad.
THE GOOD: Revision3.com
Revision3 is a TV network on the internet. It has great shows like Ctrl+Alt+Chicken (with Alex Albrecht) and Diggnation (with Kevin Rose of Digg ), but that isn’t what we’re here to talk about. Revision3 just got a well needed redesign of their site and logo. They picked a green/white/black theme that goes great throughout the website. The logo is centered around the theme of the site and has a very web 2.0 style (curves, skinny letters, and faded colors). The frontpage is set-up like a blog (newer episodes of shows are presented at the top) and the different shows are along the left side. The site is very fresh and crisp, much better than their first website (gray on gray).
That was the Good, Now the Bad
THE BAD: DL.TV
Okay, this site isn’t nearly as bad as some on the internet, but when it comes to an internet television (I am not sure what to call it) site I picked DL.TV. This site has nothing really visually appealing about it. There is no color and nothing really innovative of modern about it. The color scheme is gray on gray on a little orange and is in need of a complete refresh. This site is just all around boring and if it wasn’t for the fact that the video podcast was okay, I wouldn’t give this site the time of day. Hey! DL.TV add some color and interest to your site, you might even find that more people will come and take a visit.
