Who doesn’t like free stuff? What if I told you there was place on the “internets” where it had tons of freebies all in one place? Well, I’ll tell you, it’s called Freebie Finder and its at AbsurdlyCool.com. Now the site itself might look pretty boring, but that isn’t the reason you’re there. This site harvest all the freebies it can find everyday and puts them into a nice simple list just for you.

You may ask? This seems to good to be true and most the time it is. Most of the free stuff on the site is fake, doesn’t work, or just doesn’t feel right, but every so often you’ll find something worth your time.

Over the past year of using it this is some of the stuff I’ve received:

  • Swiffer Duster
  • Ubuntu Demos and stickers
  • Post-It Notes (a ton of these)
  • wristbands
  • Shower Cleaner…holder
  • lotion
  • shampoo
  • soap
  • cleaning wipes
  • baby wipes
  • cheap cologne
  • CD’s
  • stickers
  • game demo’s
  • coffee mugs
  • cups
  • window clings
  • Shipping boxes

Yeah. Most of it is crap that I’ll never use, but it’s free and anything free is worth getting, right? Go try it out, the site has a rating and comment system so you can see what the other users are saying before you buy get it shipped to you . Oh and most of the freebies come in “six to eight weeks,” which is early in my opinion, so don’t be waiting by your door for your free crap.

That was EPIC

Over the past weekend I was able to see the Epic Movie, which came out on Friday the 26th. The creators have been making other movies like the Scary Movie and the Date Movie, but now they stepped into the Epic genre. This movie is just how it sounds, a mix of 20 different epic movies from the past year.

If your wanting to see a movie that some substance, this doesn’t have any. If you are however looking for a movie that will just make you laugh the Epic Movie is what you’ll want to see. This movie has everything in it, from MTV Cribs to the Chronicles of Narnia, and is a total laugh the whole time.

The only downside to this movie is that it is really short, like 70-80 minutes short, but who cares when the movie is great. Ebert and Roper might not recommend this movie, but I do.

When does that come out again?

Are you the kind of person that has upcoming games, music, and movies on your personal calendar? Are you the kind of person who pre-orders something even when it will be readily available to the public and their dogs? Well I sure am (seeing I have already pre-order Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360) and I had been looking for a site where I could find all of the new releases (TV, Movies, Music, Games) all in one place and I have found it, at ReleaseGuide.com.

ReleaseGuide is a very simple site just telling you what you want. I believe release guide could be better because they seem to always leave out a few releases. They should add some web 2.0 elements like user submits that allow users to add releases that were forgotten, which could be voted upon by other users. But by no means does that mean ReleaseGuide is bad, it makes finding upcoming releases much easier.

The Good and The Bad of the Web: Rev3 vs DL.tv

This is the first episode of The Good and The Bad of the Web. We’ll start off with the Good and end with the Bad.

THE GOOD: Revision3.com
Revision3 is a TV network on the internet. It has great shows like Ctrl+Alt+Chicken (with Alex Albrecht) and Diggnation (with Kevin Rose of Digg ), but that isn’t what we’re here to talk about. Revision3 just got a well needed redesign of their site and logo. They picked a green/white/black theme that goes great throughout the website. The logo is centered around the theme of the site and has a very web 2.0 style (curves, skinny letters, and faded colors). The frontpage is set-up like a blog (newer episodes of shows are presented at the top) and the different shows are along the left side. The site is very fresh and crisp, much better than their first website (gray on gray).

That was the Good, Now the Bad

THE BAD: DL.TV
Okay, this site isn’t nearly as bad as some on the internet, but when it comes to an internet television (I am not sure what to call it) site I picked DL.TV. This site has nothing really visually appealing about it. There is no color and nothing really innovative of modern about it. The color scheme is gray on gray on a little orange and is in need of a complete refresh. This site is just all around boring and if it wasn’t for the fact that the video podcast was okay, I wouldn’t give this site the time of day. Hey! DL.TV add some color and interest to your site, you might even find that more people will come and take a visit.

I’m Looking For CHACHA

There’s Google, Yahoo, and Ask are the big three search engines of today, but the one that is gaining some steam is ChaCha.com. If you haven’t ever heard of ChaCha, maybe you should think of checking it out. It does something totally different from Goolgle, Yahoo, Ask, it allows you to seach using a “guide.” This “guide” is a real living person who does the dirty work when it comes to searching, oh and the best part is you can talk to that guide while you are searching (no friends, no problem). When you search don’t expect quantity, expect quality. This site is especially good when you can only search for .org’s or .edu’s (school rules) because they will only find what you ask for. Oh and it is absolutely free. Google I would keep an eye (or and o) on ChaCha because this is the new, innovative, effective (ad free) way to search.
